A Little Bit of This and That From Debbie
(Not a sponsored or affiliate post. All writing/opinions are my own.)
So, today's post is going to cover several bases. I'm sharing a vest with you today for the fashion portion and then I'll conclude with some inspiration. Nothing like a little bit of this and that!
Only one photo today and I have to say I'm not pleased with either the photo or the way I look, but that's the way it goes sometimes in blog land. I bought this vest awhile ago at Cracker Barrel and it looked so pretty on the rack. I think it makes me look "large" in this photo, though, and I also think I need to pair it with different colors. What do you think? Somehow, the blues don't go together well. I have another long vest that gives a more slimming appearance but this one doesn't seem to at all. I do like the pretty tan lace along the bottom of the vest. It adds a feminine touch to the overall casual look of the chambray vest. The brand is "Indigo Soul." The vest is on sale online through Cracker Barrel and there is only one left if you are interested. I will say that it is lightweight which makes it a nice piece for warm weather wear.
I don't know about you, but every once in awhile I get on an "I look terrible" kick. I don't really ever like myself in photos and I can get down about how my hair looks, my weight, etc. etc. This type of thinking can be a very vicious cycle to break and usually has something to do with my overall mood at the time. During these "negative thinking" times, I turn to scriptures which remind me that looks are not really what life is all about.
From Galatians 5: "That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original."
And, from Matthew 6: 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Source Bible Gateway)
These scriptures put my feelings in perspective in the right way and remind me that negative feelings about looks are counter productive and not necessary. I hope that if you ever experience the, "I look terrible blues," that these scriptures will be of help to you, as well.
I will be taking a break this coming week from technology and blogging. So, this will be my last post for a week. But, don't worry, I'll be back with more of debbiethisandthat the next week!
Until Then, Have A Great Week and Many Blessings!

If we're being honest Debbie, we all experience those times. I love the lace trim on your vest. In order to see it, you almost have to go with darker bottoms. But i can also picture it with khaki and it would show up well. Or even wearing it with a dress. There’s a lot you can do with it. I like it. We all get down on ourselves at times though, but the scriptures you chose do put those times in perspective. We can look fabulous and put together, but it is really the condition of our hearts that matters most. If we are in a dark place, it does not matter what we have on. I'd like to be able to say I think of the condition of my heart first, but that is sadly not always the case! Your vest will look different to you on another day, rest assured! Enjoy your time off Debbie!

Thanks for your inspirational post, Debbie. I think women in particular go through clothing blues and how do I look blues. Our culture seems to contribute to these feelings and ideas. I'm glad for your honesty and inspiration on this topic.
